History of the Practice

Dr. Rod Yetter started the Prairie Ridge Veterinary Clinic in 1986 as a mixed animal practice in his hometown of Havana, Illinois after having graduated from vet school at the University of Illinois in 1983. It has changed to an almost totally SA practice today. Havana is Dr. Yetter`s hometown. It is a small town with a population of about 4,000, middle income mostly blue collar, working class people. The town is located in Central Illinois, on the Illinois River, about half way between Peoria and Springfield. This area is known for its outstanding outdoor recreational opportunities, including hunting, fishing, boating, swimming, wildlife refuges, and hiking in a nearby Illinois State Forest. Lincoln`s Illinois residence of New Salem is also nearby. We have many restaurants, churches, a large grocery store, and a downtown area that includes several boutique women`s shops and modern bars with outdoor live music gardens in warm weather. We have a highly rated, financially secure school system.
