History of the Practice

Dr. Renee D. Fisher established the MVC on 11/11/91. Dr. Fisher graduated locally as valedictorian of Athens Area High School's class of 1976. She received her BS Degree in Animal Behavior from Bucknell University in 1980 and her DVM from the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. Dr. Fisher is an associate member of the American Animal Hospital Association ( was a hospital member for 12 years), adhering to their strict guidelines in providing the best quality care available to our pets. We live in a small, rural community where everybody knows everybody. Many of our clients have been clients since we opened and have known Dr. Fisher from high school.

What makes this practice special/Major selling points

Dr. Fisher was a single mother of 5 children. Therefore, she worked her own hours to be there for her children, no emergency services. Dr. Fisher has and does come in for emergencies if possible. Dr. Fisher has worked evenings and weekend hours although now prefers not to. There are also numerous outdoor activities to pursue such as camping, hiking, boating, fishing, hunting, skiing etc. We are also located very close to Cornell University for back up.

What might the next owner need to improve in this practice?

Our gross income reflects what Dr. Fisher is grossing alone after cutting her hours back to approximately 24 hours per week and taking off to visit her family and celebrate holidays when she chooses. If the new owner wants to work and build the practice, it won't be hard. Our gross was nearly double what it is now with an associate and Dr. Fisher working part time. The practice has a huge potential for growth for anyone willing to tap into it.
