About
Dr. Arnold L. Goldman has provided leadership to a diverse range of organizations, including professional societies, homeland security agencies, banking & business organizations, charitable foundations & local government. He also has extensive experience advocating at the state and Federal levels of government. His interests include organizational leadership and mentoring future leaders.

Dr. Goldman has represented Connecticut in the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) House of Delegates and as a member of their State Advocacy & Governance Performance Review Committees. In July, 2017 he began a 6-year term on their Board of Directors as AVMA treasurer, and in July 2022 declared his candidacy for the office of AVMA president-elect.

He is past president of the New England VMA, Connecticut VMA, Hartford County VMA and the National Alliance of State Animal & Agricultural Emergency Programs. He founded & is immediate past president of the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Foundation, for which he created their CTSART emergency response and Companions-in-Crisis domestic violence programs. He is also co-founder of HAVEN, the Connecticut impaired health professionals recovery program.

He has served on the CT DESPP Mass Care Working Group, FEMA Animal Emergency Working Group & NY-NJ-CT Regional Catastrophic Planning Team. He co-chairs the animal protection emergency support function (RESF11) for the Capitol Region Council of Governments Emergency Planning Committee and has been designated a Certified Emergency Manager® by the International Association of Emergency Managers. Dr. Goldman led efforts to pass CT Public Act 07-11, protecting domestic animals in disasters, & CT Public Act 11-187, strengthening CT Department of Agriculture authority over interstate animal importation.

Dr. Goldman has served as chairman of the Canton Board of Finance, president of the Canton Chamber of Commerce, director of Collinsville Bank and is a member of the Rotary Club of Avon-Canton. He is president of the Hartford Tees Association at Hartford Brainard Airport and vice president of the Hartford Brainard Airport Association. He lives in Canton, Connecticut with his wife Jill, a retired special education teacher. The Goldman's have two grown children and one grandchild.
